“Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.”
Tolstoy
I’ve started my blog by quoting Tolstoy because I’m currently reading Anna Karenina and have come to love and respect this man for his genuine grasp of the human condition in the most humble and accepting way. I’ve also chosen this quote because it it highly applicable to my life and humanity in general.
How pure and sincere this statement is.
Everyone who has reached a certain level of maturity and self-actualization would like to accomplish….something. Most of us aren’t aware of what it is we’d like to do or how, but we all have this void; this incomplete, underlying feeling of agitation at something we lack. We all want to feel memorable. We all want to feel appreciated. We all want to feel important.
It is true that each of us is responsible for giving back all that we are endowed with, whether it be time, money, or efforts. But it is a fundamental principle of life that when you change man, you change the world.
“Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.”
It is rather simple.
Change yourself and you will transform your downfalls into passions. Change yourself and you will see flaws in yourself, thus making you unaware of the flaws of others. Change yourself and you will inadvertently influence everyone around you. Change yourself and you will create positivity that feeds productivity. Change yourself and you will change the world.
